Step 2 of 3
Add TMU MCP to your AI app
Pick the app you use. Each student connects with their own TMU account.
Server address to paste into your AI app
https://tmumcp.ca/mcpChatGPT
ChatGPT currently requires a one-time custom connection on the web. It takes about 3 minutes. A pasted prompt can’t install it for you.
Turn on Developer mode
On chatgpt.com, open your profile menu → Settings → Security and login. Scroll to the bottom and switch on Developer mode.
ChatGPT marks this “Elevated risk” because it allows apps OpenAI hasn’t reviewed yet, like this one. TMU MCP acts on your explicit send, upload or submit requests. You can enable extra review for every write in TMU MCP Settings. No Developer mode switch? Your plan or school workspace may not allow it; use Claude or Codex instead.
Create the app
Open the Plugins page, then choose Add at the top right → Create MCP App.
Fill in the form
- Name: TMU MCP
- Connection: keep Server URL selected and paste the address above
- Authentication: keep OAuth. Leave Advanced OAuth settings as they are.
- Tick I understand and want to continue, then choose Create.
The icon and description are optional.
Approve access
Choose Continue to TMU MCP. The TMU MCP dashboard opens an approval page. Check that it shows your TMU email, then choose Allow connection. You land back in ChatGPT.
Try it
Start a new chat and type @, then pick TMU MCP (or choose + → Plugins). Ask: “What’s due this week?”
Claude and Cowork
Open Connectors
On claude.ai, open Customize → Connectors, then choose + → Add custom connector.
Add the server
- Name: TMU MCP
- MCP server URL: paste the address above
- Leave the OAuth client and header fields empty, then choose Add.
Connect and approve
Choose Connect next to TMU MCP. The TMU MCP dashboard opens. Check your TMU email, then choose Allow connection.
School or work Claude accounts may need the organization owner to add the connector first.
Try it
In a new chat, switch on TMU MCP in the tools menu and ask: “What’s due this week?”
Codex
Open the prepared request
This opens the Codex desktop app with a ready-made setup request. Send it as is.
Show the setup request
Approve sign-in
Codex adds the server and opens the TMU MCP dashboard. Check your TMU email, then choose Allow connection.
Claude Code
Give Claude Code the setup request
Copy it and paste it into Claude Code. It adds the server and walks you through sign-in.
Show the setup request
Approve sign-in
Run /mcp, choose tmu-mcp and authenticate. Check your TMU email, then choose Allow connection.
Other apps
Add a remote MCP server
Use any AI app that supports remote MCP servers with OAuth sign-in. Add a server with the address above.
Sign in and approve
When the app asks, sign in with your TMU account and choose Allow connection.
Connecting your AI app is separate from D2L and Google. Finish those on your TMU MCP dashboard. Official guides: ChatGPT · Codex · Claude and Cowork · Claude Code
